Hello,
To a specific project, I wish to add a required select field to the Task and Bug issue types.
I have created the field at "Custom fields" in Jira Settings -> Issues.
But the field is nowhere to be found when creating or editing a bug or task in the project.
I have checked all screens for the custom field.
I think that issue is that somehow my projects are not linked? When trying to add a context to the custom fields, the projects selector is always empty. Screenshot:
I have all user roles, site-owner, administrator etc. So permission is not the issue.
Based on what you've described and assumed your project is a company-managed project, perhaps what is missing is adding the recently created custom field to the project's screens.
Navigate to <YOUR_SITE>/plugins/servlet/project-config/<YOUR_PROJECT_KEY>/screens and verify the screens associated with your issue types to add the field to them.
Also, when there are no projects in the list while creating a context, your custom field already has a global context.
Finally, to make the field required for that project, you will need:
I hope it helps. If this answer helps solve the problem, please come back and mark this answer as solved to help other community members with the same challenge. If not, you are welcome to share your solution as well.

Alex
You don’t “link” projects. Did you associate the field to the screen for your project? Admin > issues > custom fields, find field and click on ellipses and choose associate screens.
