Adding resolution reasons under status 'Closed'

Lydia Thompson April 29, 2019

Hello,

I have previously used a board where on selecting status 'Closed' an option for the resolution would appear e.g Done, Won't do, duplicate, fixed etc.

I am now using a new board where my option in the status is 'Done' and doesn't offer a options / drop down for a reason (as above).

Questions:

  1. Do I need to change the status to Closed rather than done?
  2. If so, how do I make the status change?
  3. Will I need to add in the resolution options separately?

Many thanks for any help

Lydia

It all depends on the resolution screen which is 'attached' to the transition between for example In Progress and Done. It doesn't matter if you are transitioning issues using status button on the issue screen or using the Kanban board.

From what you are writing, in your previous workflow the resolution screen was configured when transitioning to status Done and this time it is not. Talk to your Jira Administrator to fix the workflow :-)

PS. Chances are that whoever created the workflow decided this time that the resoultion screen will pop up between the Done and Closed statuses. In this case you need to change the status to Closed in order to have the ability to put the resolution type in the issue. Anyway, talk to someone who designed the process and configured the workflow.
