Advanced Roadmap - how to assign sub-tasks to the team

chanek September 22, 2023

Hello!

I joined a project couple of months before the deadline. I cannot rearrange the Jira board according to my will, experience or proper Scrum standards so rearranging all exsiting stories is not an option at the moment.

We would like to have a visibility for team's capacity in Advanced Roadmap. However, sub-tasks in the created Stories are performed by random teams (BFF, Frontend, Core). Unfortunately, Jira doesn't let to assign sub-tasks within the story to different team than that one that is assigned to the Story. Do you know any walk around for this topic? I would be super grateful for any advices? I don't want to convert the sub-tasks to Tasks because it may cause big mess in the backlog and on the board. I'm open for any ideas!

Hi,

It is correct. Sub-tasks are meant to be used by the team or person who is working on the story. The sub-task is and must be in the same project as the story.

If there is work for a different team, then a linked issue (story?, task?) should be created in the project/board of the team who should solve/implement it. If you use the correct link type, it should be possible in Advanced Roadmaps too. If this story or task is estimated, the capacity of the team, BFF, Fronted, Core, will be adapted too. Of course, the original story should be adjusted too, as the work is done by a different team.
