Annual Jira subscription for 500 licenses, add new users proportionately

Our company currently holds 500 Jira licenses, which we have been renewing annually. Due to an increase in new hires, we would like to add an additional 20 licenses. Could you please confirm if it's possible to add these licenses on a prorated basis?

Because you are on an annual subscription you can only go up to the next tier, which after 500 is 600 users. You can learn more about the license tiers in this license FAQ. And yes, it will be prorated based on when your renewal is.

what do we do if we need flexibility of adding users on prorata basis? Because it is too much of cost for us to pay for 100 users, when we need to add only 20 users.

You would need to switch to a monthly subscription if you want the flexibility. Just note that generally an annual subscription is less than the monthly one, based on the pricing page for Jira you save up to 17% with an annual subscription.
