As a normal (non-admin) user, can I make the default comment sort from 'Oldest first..."?

Is there any option to change the comment sorting section as a normal user? There is no way I can get my IT to change this for all projects and users, but it's still quite annoying and confusing having to change it every time.

I would prefer the default for all projects to be oldest first, as would my colleagues.

This is currently not possible in Jira Cloud, however, you can vote on a suggestion here to drive this suggestion towards the top of consideration!

Oh, actually I think I am on JIRA Software 9.4? Does that make a difference at all?

So that tells me that you are on Jira Data Center not Jira Cloud - the functionality to store the sort order of comments by user does not exist yet, however I did find this ticket that is in progress and is currently being worked on. I would not be surprised if in the very near future you get this functionality after an upgrade.
