Currently, we track our releases using the "Releases" feature in Jira Software.
As our issues have very technical titles, we "translate" them into Client Release Notes written in Confluence (in 3 languages). This also allows us to add more explanations or screenshots to the new changes.
All of these 3 documents are linked to the Release (together with the automatically created list of issues when clicking on the "Release notes" button).
Whenever we release a new version, I'd like to send out an internal email to our team, informing them about the new release and guiding them towards the three Client Release Notes documents. Even better would be to attach the PDF versions of these documents, so that they can forward the information to our clients.
Is there a way to do this?
Sending emails on version release in Jira is possible through the native automation feature. You can refer a number of answers within this community that explain the process step by step - here's one of them
As far as I am aware, native automation does not offer the possibility to attach the pdf version of your release notes documents to emails.
If you are open to using apps, you can give our free app Automated release notes a try. It does allow you to generate release notes in PDF format & send them as email attachments. Based on your description I think ARN will be able to further automate some of the stuff for your team and make the process more efficient.
Best,
Anand
