joy.okundia September 6, 2023

Does anybody knows if it is possible to automatically assign the same epic link to a subtask? I could use your help here by providing me a step-by-step guide. TY

Hi @joy.okundia

Welcome to the community.

Some detail I would like to have is;

Is the sub-task a sub-task of the Epic or from a Story, Bug, Task or other issue type?

The Subtask is under a Story wherein the Story in under the Epic

Hi @joy.okundia

Then the answer is no as the Story is linked to the Epic.

There is a hierarchy structure in default Jira.

  • Epic
    • Story, Task, Bug
      • Sub-Task

You could have Sub-task under your Epic, by making use of work around, see as example community topics

This is some admin effort you would need to implement and maintain.
