In the old issue view you could enter the ID of a task, in the description or in comments, for example, "please look at WEB-1234" and Jira would automatically create a link to that task and include a nice icon and the status of the referenced task. This doesn't work in the new issue view and I can't find any documentation about it.

The closest I've found is the function to insert a link, but that does not give you the issue status which is nice to have.

Hi Bill,

I've been looking into it and indeed in the new issue view the status is not being shown. And apparently you're not the first one wondering. I've found this issue in the Jira tracker: JRACLOUD-69230.

I suggest you vote and watch the issue to keep up to date. In the meantime you could disable the new issue view to work around this problem.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Maarten

Thanks Maarten. I've upvoted the issue and changed my Personal settings to disable the new issue view.
