Hi, I have a problem with setting up automatic time logging in a project.
We have a plugin for Jira called "Timesheet Tracking for Jira" with which we look at the calendar every month to see who has worked how much time on a project. However, some people we know in advance will always have 8h in one project, so I wanted to automate this.
However, I can see that a trigger is needed to trigger such an automatic action, plus I have the problem that this time should be attributed to other people and not to me.
Does anyone know how to create such automation? I have already tried "when: Scheduled then logged" or "when issue assigned then logged".
Hi @Bill Sheboy ,
Thank you for your answer! This is exactly what I did, but you can see on the screen that I have an error with "When: Scheduled". Maybe my JQL is missing some information? I put there status and the person who should have logged time.
Also in "Then: Log time" I put the smart value "{{now.toBusinessDay}}" to check if this is a business day or a weekend.
I am not seeing the error for that trigger. If you select "validate query" what happens?

Then I can see that I have "1 issue found" but I can't start or turn on the automation, it looks like there is an error. Also on the left side, you can see the red logo with an exclamation point - so I believe this is an error. But I don't understand where exactly is the error.

I wonder if this is one of those situations where a rule gets "glitched" due to problems with the editor.
Perhaps drop/disable this one and try to recreate the rule as new to see how that helps.

Would you please post an image of the rule Details section?

I have changed my rule a little bit but it is still not working.
I want to log time while it is a business day to specially created task GV-1 that is assigned to the person "Grzegorz" who should be the one that logged time.

Thanks for that information. Please try changing the rule's Actor in the details. That is the person (i.e. Jira User) to whom the Log Work action will apply.

Hi @Magdalena
To do this for a specific person's user account, try changing the rule actor to that person. The time logging will be relative to them.
Kind regards,
Bill
