Automatically change a ticket's Epic link when moved to different parent epic?

In Advanced Roadmap, I can move Tasks between Epics and it will change the Parent link for those Tasks for me.

However, the Tickets also have the Epic link field that remain unchanged. This field shows up during sprint view and can be confusing. Is there a way to also change this field when a Task gets moved to a new Parent epic?

Thanks!

Hi @Tong Pham and welcome to the Community!

I would recommend you to remove the epic link field from your screens. It has been replaced by the parent field quite some time ago and does no longer have a function. I quite agree that having both fields visible may be quite confusing, but rather than updating the field, I think it is a better investment to make sure users no longer see it.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Walter Buggenhout !

Yes, and...a caveat for using only one field:

I believe both fields are updated when the Parent is changed.  For automation rules, I just confirmed the Parent field is not fully integrated for changelog handling.  This means the Epic Link must still be used for some scenarios in automation rules when the Parent field was the source of a change.

Kind regards,
Bill
