Hi Guys,
Wonding if someone can help me with this one. We use JIRA Ondemand as a help desk system and after a period of time if issues are not commented on or resolved I would like them automatically to close.

Similar to what Atlassian support does when an issue isn't commented on or closed after 5 days.

Does anyone have any idea I would go about this??!?

Refer below to how Atlassian support goes about this -

Dear Anthony Brennan,
We have noticed that this issue has been marked as resolved for 5 business days. We assume that your issue can be closed.
However if this is not the case, feel free to add a comment and we will respond accordingly.

Kind Regards,
The Atlassian OnDemand Support Team

Thanks Rambanam,
Trouble is with ondemand instances you can't run Jelly scripts.
