Automation assign issue on sum of time estimate

Giuseppe Attardi March 22, 2023

Actually, balanced workload works on number of issue assigned.

Is there a way to assign issue calculating the sum of time estimated for user?

Example:

user1 has 5 issues assigned with a total of time estimated = 300m

user2 has 3 issues assigned with a total of time estimated = 400m.

The balanced workload automation will assign a new ticket to user2 because has less issue then user1, but he has more time estimated.

I 'd like to assign a new ticket to user1 because he has less time estimated.

Is it possible?

Yes, it is possible to assign issues based on the sum of time estimated for a user by using a custom automation rule in Jira. You can create a rule that calculates the sum of estimated time for each user and then assign the issue to the user with the lowest sum of estimated time. However, you would need to use Automation for Jira or ScriptRunner to create this custom automation rule.
