Hi, I'm working on a team managed service project and a team managed software project.
I'm trying to set up automation that will clone a ticket from the service project to the software project upon the original ticket transitioning to a specific status.
Whilst trying to set up this rule (having set the rule to work on multiple projects) there is no option for me to select the current issue type in which to be cloned - it's not in the drop down list.
I've set up rules like this previously and they work and I can find the issue type - however for some reason I now cannot when trying to set up this rule from scratch. Please can someone help me. Thanks
Hi Mark,
Team-managed projects are totally independent of each other and any objects created for each are internal to that project. So, having said that, can you verify in the Project Settings for both projects that the Issue Type is there - on both projects. Don't assume because it is on one that it will be on the other.
Hi Mark,
As I'm on Datacenter Jira, it might be a bit different, but are you sure that the actor of the rule has the permissions needed for making the clone?
Normally, when I make a rule, Jira sets myself as the actor. In all cases, we use a different (bot) actor to distinguish the resulting change from that made by a real person. In our case, that bot character had insufficient permissions when we started.
Your problem could be the opposite: already made rules in your case might have a different actor (as in: not yourself), that has the right permissions, whilst you might not have them. The latter would bork your newly created automation.
