Automation when a user story status gets transitioned, the parent epic also gets transitioned

Hi, so i was wanting to create an automation rule that's indicated as above, but I got a warning that says that Epic(Parent) is going to be phased out soon and that I should use the Parent field instead.

I currently have a automation rule that says that if a sub-task is transitioned to in-progress, then its parent issue will also be transitioned. does that mean that even the parent Epic will now be affected/transitioned as well?

Thanks!

Bonjour @Stefannie Tan

To make it short, it's just that update work is underway on the platform and their vision is to replace the Epic (parent) option with Parent; so as not to surprise us for the moment, both options remain available with the message displayed but soon the Epic (parent) option will no longer be available.

so you better select Parent option

regarding the second question, yes if the Epic concerned is indeed the parent of the transitioned ticket, it will also be transitioned

^ for this one, my current automation rule is the issue = subtasks, so its parent is just the user story. the epic doesn't get transitioned. how can i fix it so that it also includes up until epic? or do i need to create a separate automation that goes up one more level?

hey @Stefannie Tan indeed.

you must to create a new rule that is triggered by the transition of the user story so you apply the transition action on the parent epic of the latter.

Don't forget to check the box to allow other rules to trigger this one since the transition of the users story is caused by another automation rule.
