Average time in status widget showing flatlined graph.

L January 17, 2025

We have been directed to this page by Atlassian support regarding an issue we're facing with Average time in status report. The graph appears flatlined, showing no progress.

We have already taken the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Added both "Time in status" and "Date of first response" fields.
  2. Cleared the plugin cache and performed full reindex.
  3. Verified that the plugin was installed in the correct path as outlined in your documentation.
  4. Upgraded the plugin from version 4.0.0 to 4.0.1

Plugin version: 4.0.1

Jira version: Datacenter- 9.12..2

Hello @L

Thank you for reaching out and for providing the details about your issue.

It seems like the Average Time in Status report may not be delivering the insights you need, and we understand how critical such metrics can be for your workflows. Our Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira app, developed by our team at OBSS, is specifically designed to provide the detailed reporting capabilities you're looking for.

With our Status Duration Report, you can:

  • Calculate averages for your issues: You can include the average status duration as part of the report, either as an overall average for all issues or grouped by fields such as "Created month" or "Assignee." This flexibility allows you to generate reports tailored to your specific needs.
  • Track the exact time issues spend in each status.
  • Visualize progress with dynamic and customizable charts.
  • Filter by specific date ranges, issue types, or any custom JQL.
  • Export data for further analysis.

To give you a clearer idea, here are two examples of what you can achieve with Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira:

If you'd like to explore this solution further, feel free to check out Timepiece on the Atlassian Marketplace or schedule a demo with us for a walkthrough of the app's features.

Hope it helps

Hi @L,

The plugin in question is made by Atlassian Labs and is unsupported...

If you want reliable charts, you could search on Atlassian Marketplace for a plugin that offers this type of chart and is supported by its vendor.

In case you want to try a plugin, our Great Gadgets app offers many useful charts, including a powerful Time in Status gadget.

Hello @L

Which plugin specifically are you using? In the Manage Apps administration page there should be a Marketplace Link for the plugin. Can you provide that link to us? There are many apps that can provide that functionality. It will help us help you to know which specific app you're using.

Thank you for providing that link.

I see the app is from Atlassian Labs and listed as Unsupported.

Atlassian Labs offers apps "as-is" with no commitment to resolve bugs or enhance the features. Refer to
https://marketplace.atlassian.com/vendors/33202/atlassian-labs

Can you share with us the configuration of the gadget?

Is it referencing a project or a saved filter. What statuses are selected? What is the setting for Period, Average duration in Status unit, and Days Previously to include?

Can you share a screen image of the graph that you are seeing?

Avg time config.jpgFlatlined graph.jpgsure. We have filters of both with saved filter and also referring to a project.
