Hi @Renith V , there is no scheduled re-index (unless you are on a much older version) and no real need for there to be- it only needs to be run for major changes or to rebuild a broken index.
So what happens when one selects the "Background re-index" option?
The altlassian documentation states that "This option allows any Jira instance to remain usable during re-indexing; however, the instance will be slower. If you have to perform this option, do so during a low-usage period."
And we are experiencing the slowness exactly every midnight.
Is there a way to check when the indexing was done?

If you're using Jira v8.8.0+ the advanced audit features in the UI should make note of it. Prior to that version, I believe you'd have to check the last time the <JIRA_HOME>/cache/indexes directory was modified.
Edit: With regards to Background Re-Indexing- Jira will rebuild the index more slowly which does contribute to more load. Full index details can be found here. It's possible you have other scheduled jobs running at this time that contribute to Jira being a bit slow such as backups or exports.
