Hello,
We have a question about restoring Jira backup.
I will explain our scenario, we generated a Jira backup with the automatic-cloud-backup powershell script.
We wanted to test this backup, so we created a new cloud account and a new structure at Atlassian, and we would import this backup into it, to simulate the result of the backup.
However, we have the following doubt, if I import, am I at risk of transferring / migrating from one cloud to another?
If I lose or have the accounts migrated from the platform from one account to another and I lose access to the old cloud?
Thank you very much for your attention
Best regards,
Vinicius Dezan.
Hello @Vinicius B. Dezan
Thank you for reaching out.
The restoring of a Jira Cloud backup in a different Jira Cloud site is basically a copy of data and user accesses, so you will not lose any access in the previous source site from where you exported the backup file.
If you have Cross-application links in the backup (links to a source file/page to an external application, as bitbucket), the system will ask if you want to link the issues in the new site to those external sources. If you choose yes, both of your Jira sites will be linked to those external sources.
In other words, no changes will happen in the Jira Cloud site where you extracted the backup from. For more information about data restoring, please check the documentation below:

Once you delete something in Jira you have lost that data forever be it issues, attachments or any of the configuration objects.
Thats what inspired us at Revyz to build an app for simplifying backing up your cloud Jira instance which includes issues, attachments, comments, configuration objects and more.
Please visit our market place page to see all things we can help you with protecting your data in your Jira cloud instance - Revyz Backup & Restore
Additional information is also available at - Revyz Backup & Restore for Jira Software Cloud
Also note Atlassian recommends that you backup your data per the SaaS Shared responsibilities
I would love to get your feedback on what we are doing and how to improve given an opportunity.
Thank you
Vish
