Hi,
we're using Toggl and the chrome plugin toggl-to-jira in order to log time in jira issues we've been working on. Since it's a two step way (toggl, then toggl > jira), isn't there a more efficient way to track time?
The advantage of toggl to jira is that we're having a start/stop button on each issue so we just have to press that button to start a timer and stop the previous one. But we're dependant on the plugin, toggl and the browser we're using so it can be unreliable at longer terms. The plugin has been broken once and we couldn't log time that time.
So I was wondering what would be the best solution for us in order to track time easily with a timer in jira? Manually log time is not an option since our teams are working on a lot of different kind of issues.
Hi @ray
I could suggest you the plugin ActivityTimeline.
An automatic time tracker allows users to focus on their tasks without the worry of tracking when they begin working on them. All workloads submitted through Jira are smoothly loaded, ensuring that you always have accurate and up-to-date numbers at your fingertips.
Elevate your efficiency with customized approval workflows for individual timesheets and seamless tracking of non-Jira tasks. ActivityTimeline also offers to report by diverse categories: project, epic, and custom fields, so you know where the time is getting spent.
If you have any additional questions, please feel free to ask me. We can provide a demo session for you if need it.
I think that's a bit too complicated for our needs. We just need a start/stop timer function on a jira issue in order to log it into the work logs :)

Hi @ray
with ActivityTimeline on the Jira server, you will have all the features that you need for time tracking in Jira. However, you can customize your timeline and reports and make it as easy as possible. Feel free to book a demo session to explore it:)

Thanks for your suggestion, but we're not using jira cloud, we're using jira data center.

Hello @ray
Clockwork Free provides you with the start/stop functionality.
Even better is the automatic timer functionality that starts the Timer when an issue is set to an active status.
With Clockwork you can select the option you wish to track time, you only need to configure this in Clockwork configuration.
See our documentation for more details on how to track time.
I would be happy to give you a tour of the App, please reach out here.
