BigPicture Allow working in weekend but display weekends and holidays in Gantt chart

Deleted user February 13, 2020

Is there a way to allow issues to be planned in weekends and holidays but to still keep the weekends and holidays visible in the gantt chart?

I normally try to avoid planning tasks in weekends but sometimes it is inevitable. Therefore I want to allow issues to be placed in weekends. However, if I make saturdays an sundays working days the gantt chart in BigPicture does not mark the weekends anymore. So now I have to check a calendar to see which dates are saturdays and sundays. I would prefer to still see the grey shading even though I set saturdays and sundays as working days. The same for holidays. Is this possible?

Hello,

We are aware that the feature described in the ticket ONE-16167 is important in everyday project management activities. That's why we decided to accelerate its development.

Please be informed that it's already in the analysis phase. We plan to introduce it in 1Q 2021.

You can follow work progress in the feature request ticket: ONE-16167. Please note that it is best to open it in the incognito tab of your browser.

Best regards,
Anna

Hi,

We do not have such functionality yet, and no one even asked for it, but it seems to be a good idea.

Please raise a Service Desk ticket right here so that we could create a feature request ticket for you.

Although, there is a workaround that can help you.

There is a rule, that allows tasks to be planned on weekends and holidays when the task is a parent. When there is a need to plan such task on i.e. weekend, you can indent an artificial task under that task and change the parent task mode to 'Auto top-down'

I hope you find this workaround useful.

Cheers,

Patryk

Hi @Patryk-SoftwarePlant ,

I have to correct you, I asked for it over 3 years ago.

To be honest - This is a basic feature in every gantt-system that you can display/hide weekend days. Of course even if you configured that these days are working days.

When you plan a project via the gantt module you want to know when there are weekends.. It is indispensable for your planning. Now I have to open my calendar to check if there is a weekend or not!

My initial request in your service desk was SUPPORT-268242. Unfortunately I have no access anymore?! But I know that this is the development issue for my request --> https://jira.softwareplant.com/browse/ONE-16167.

Please make it possible to display weekend days. It would make planning so much easier with BigPicture.

Regards,

Matthias

It would be very useful, and it is a basic function.

I agree. This feels like an essential feature for a roadmap. It takes much time to look for the weekends on a calendar.
