Hi
I am performing data migration from Bugzilla to Jira using the jira importer plugin. My question is is it advisable/mandatory to switch off Bugzilla during the import process.
Ideally I would like to shut down bugzilla during import to avoid any kind of data corruption however since it is a production instance I am getting strong resistance against shutting it down and hence exploring the option of importing data with the live bugzilla instance running.
Has anyone performed any similar data migration? Any other tips anyone wants to share on such migrations?
Rahul
SInce the users don't modify the migrated projects during the import, there is no problem to perform this migration "live". Maybe the only concern here is that new content, created after the migration, will not be included, so you'll need to perform an additional moving after.

Thanks Lucas...for your response..

Related to this (and perhaps this is what you referring to about users not modifying the migrated projects) - does the bugzilla importer do any writing to the bugzilla database at all, or is read-only? (We're planning on doing something similar to Rahul - importing a few products from Bugzilla at a time, and allowing other bugzilla products to remain active for a while).
