Hi,

I have created a automation rule , but don't know where I made mistake I am unable to achieve below use cases.

  1. anyone comes & change the version in epic, it should update in all the child issues.
  2. If any new child issue created under Epic, the details should update automatically.
  3.  Remove /delete the child from parent the details of version should also remove from the child issue.

Hi @sravani.x.battu

Welcome to the community

I would create separate rules for the action you are describing

  1. Value Fix version changes

    Screenshot 2023-07-24 at 12.37.42.png
  2. New issue requires Fix Version if under an Epic

    Screenshot 2023-07-24 at 12.40.40.png
  3. Remove Fix Version

Thank you Marc for your support. The remove fix version automation rule is not working as expected.

Thanks!

Hi @sravani.x.battu

Just change the edit action as follows, this should do the trick

Hi @sravani.x.battu

I tried it on my own cloud an it works.

What kind or log is there in your rule?

HI @sravani.x.battu

I see the rule has been succesfull once.

The other occasions there has been no action as the issue triggering the rule didn't match the condition.

The expanded log example.

  1. Is RDT-294 not an Epic issue type?
  2. If is isn't an Epic, is the Epic Link field Empty?

So does the issue comply to these conditions, if not the rule won't action

Hi @Marc - Devoteam

we removed the story from Epic , the version which is tagged to that story is not disappearing.

Thanks

Hi @sravani.x.battu

Was that issue a child of the Epic or linked to the Epic via an issue link?

I have tested it on my instance and it works like a charm. My issue was a child of the Epic.

sravani.x.battu August 3, 2023

Hi @Marc - Devoteam

Thank you for this quick reply. It is child issue of Epic.

Thanks

Hi @sravani.x.battu

Can you share a screenshot of the issue and the change you are making?

sravani.x.battu August 3, 2023

Hi @Marc - Devoteam

Thanks you so much for your support , the rule is working now.

I made changes in the Issue matches JQL > Epic link is empty and it worked as expected.

Thanks
