I see the rule has been succesfull once.
The other occasions there has been no action as the issue triggering the rule didn't match the condition.

we removed the story from Epic , the version which is tagged to that story is not disappearing.

Was that issue a child of the Epic or linked to the Epic via an issue link?
I have tested it on my instance and it works like a charm. My issue was a child of the Epic.

I made changes in the Issue matches JQL > Epic link is empty and it worked as expected.
