Can I add a new column in my board without it appearing in other projects in my instance?

Hey does anyone know if I can add a new column(I want to add a testing column) without it also showing up on other projects being run in my Jira instance at all?

Conner,

Columns are exclusive to the specific board and aren't transferable. Also, does the testing column reflect to a status by the same name? What statuses will be placed under the testing column?
