Can I chance the appearance of my new issue type to be like an Epic (and not like a User Story)?

I created an extra hierarchy level above the issue type that is usually named Epic (the purple lightning bolt symbol). However the issues of the new type end up in the Backlog (like User Stories). I would like the new Issue type to behave similarly to Epics and end up in the Epic list in stead of the Backlog. Is this possible?

Hi @Stein Faes and welcome to the community,

Unfortunately you can't. Jira allows only one Epic issue type. Read here as well https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/Is-it-possible-to-create-a-custom-epic-issue-type/qaq-p/1165029

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the swift reply. Too bad this is not possible. Does Jira allow to swap which of the two is the Epic issue type?

Nope, not that I know of. You can try to change its name, which I know you can but I don't know the implications to be honest.
