I want to make a cycle time report on company level, meaning I want to get a report that takes data from 6 different project and get it all in one report. Is that possible?

Hi @Jenny Piléus , Welcome to the community,

Jira’s built-in reports typically don’t allow for complex calculations like cycle time across multiple projects.

You can use the Control Chart, it shows cycle time for issues but is typically limited to a single project.

For more advanced reporting, you may want to explore additional add-ons available on the Atlassian Marketplace.

Thanks for the quick response. It was as I suspected, but I was still hoping it might work.

Hi @Jenny Piléus 👋

As @Teresa_DevSamurai mentioned, the Control Chart is a great built-in Jira tool that shows cycle time for issues but is limited to a single project.

If you open to third-party add-ons to help, you can try Time in Status developed by my team. One of main purpose of the add-on is creating a cycle time report with data from multiple projects. To do this just:

  1. Choose Time in Status report
  2. Sort by JQL project in ( "project1", "project2")
  3. Get your Cycle Time Report with data from multiple projects

You can also book a live demo or contact us at Support - we'll show you the application inside out and answer all your questions.

I hope you find this helpful 🚀

Hello @Jenny Piléus ,

Welcome to the community!

For that I can suggest you a marketplace app which will give you ready-to-go reports.  Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira ,the oldest and the most comprehensive "Time in Status" app in Atlassian Marketplace, which is developed by my team at OBSS, has a report type that will meet your need.  Our app is available for both Jira Cloud, and Data Center.

Timepiece mainly allows you to see how much time each issue spent on each status.

Status Duration report (please see the screenshot above) which shows how much time each issue spent on each status. You can combine the time for multiple statuses to get metrics like Cycle Time, Issue Age, Lead Time, Resolution Time etc. While forming the report you use JQL queries so this means you can create a single report which combines multiple projects.

1.png

For all numeric report types, you can calculate averages and sums of those durations grouped by the issue fields you select. For example total cycle time per project and created month

2.png

The app calculates its reports using already existing Jira issue histories so when you install the app, you don't need to add anything to your issue workflows and you can get reports on your past issues as well.

Timepiece reports can be accessed through its own reporting page, dashboard gadgets, and issue view screen tabs

If you wish, you can also schedule a live demo. We will provide a comprehensive overview of the application and address any inquiries you may have.

Hope it helps,

Gizem

Hi @Jenny Piléus

Welcome to the community !!

If you are open to try a mktplace app, pls do take a look at

Time in Status Reports

With this app you can generate time in status for multiple issues from multiple projects. You can also group your statuses to define your own cycle times. The app can easily be added as a dashboard gadget.

More details here.

Hi @Jenny Piléus

welcome to the community!

As you can see from the previous answers, this is an area where many Jira users rely on apps from the Atlassian Marketplace to fulfil their reporting needs.

If a Marketplace app is an option for you, I think you'd like the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a long list of so-called history columns that aren’t natively available, including cycle time columns such as time in [status], time between [status] and [status], or time between created and resolved.

This is how it looks in action:

time-in-status.gif

As you can see above, you can easily sort and filter by your history columns, and also use them across JXL's advanced features, such as support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.

As every JXL sheet is powered by a JQL statement or a saved filter, you have full control over which issues and projects you want to include in your report.

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes

Hi @Jenny Piléus,

With Jira's default reports is not possible; the Control Chart report is limited to the current project.

An alternative would be to use an app/plugin, so you could search for an alternative on Atlassian Marketplace.

If you are open to the idea of using an app, our Great Gadgets app offers a Control Chart gadget that works with a filter/JQL as data source, so you can easily include data from multiple projects.

This gadget has a Data tab with a detailed report showing the individual issue and their cycle time.

I think it will fulfill your need. If you need any help, feel free to contact our Support Team at support@stonikbyte.com.

Hi @Jenny Piléus ,

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

On behalf of the SolDevelo development team I would like to suggest to you our application called "Worklogs - Time Tracking and Time Reports" which per your requirements allows you to generate reports on the basis of multiple projects, tickets, users etc.

Additionally, you can group the reports by days, weeks, months or years and filter them by e.g. issues, subtasks, individual users and projects or groups.

worklogs_multiprojects.gif

If there is a need for presenting the data in a more visually appealing chart form, you can also view our reports as a customizable Bar and Pie chart:

worklogs_charts.gif

Worklogs is easy to use and versatile, allowing to create flexible time reports and filter them in a granular manner, making it a great choice both for Jira newcomers and long-time users.

It's also worth noting that the app uses Jira's native time tracing and time logs, meaning that any time tracked previously with this method before its installation will be present in Worklogs.

If you haven't tested our app yet, I invite you to do so - it looks like it should meet your requirements. You can also book a demo with one of our experts and we will showcase the app and answer any questions you might have.

All the best!
