Can I create columns on a Kanban board that are NOT related to global status values

Because we have a large backlog I want to move JIRAs in to columns like "Review with Group 1" , "Review with Group 2" and "Review with Group 3".  Is this possible?   If not how best for me to add a tag so that I can easily filter to review with these groups?

Hi Paula,

You need a minimum of one status associated with a column in order to view the column on the board so that wouldn't work.

If you aren't able to add individual statuses, you could add a label to the issue such as 'Review with Group 1' or 'Review with Group 2'. You could then create a quick filter on the board for each of the particular review steps. This way you'd have an overview of the particular reviews at the current moment.

This isn't the best approach though as you'll have to add and remove labels as you go along and it's easy to make mistakes with spelling etc.

Hope that helps.

Thanks I was looking for the Status values to drag in but the only place where I saw the status tags was in the default columns.  Is there a way to copy these as when I tried to drag it over it was clearly a move vs. a copy.

In the interim I have resorted to labels so I can filter.

You're welcome.

You can have multiple distinct statuses under one column but you cannot have the same status copied across multiple columns.
