I have several stories on my backlog that I had assigned to a fix version. The fix version is now obsolete so I'd like to remove the stories from that fix version but it appears the only way I can is to move it into another fix version. However, I'd perfer to not have them assigned to any version at this time.

Hello,

I believe that your version is archived. To remove an archived version, you need first to unarchive this version, remove it from the issue and then archive it back. You can unarchive a version in Project settings -> Versions.

Yes you can remove story from fix version.

  • Make sure fix version is not required field in your Jira setup
  • Now we open fix version field for edit small cross icon will appear on version that are already associated, click that to remove
