I have a number of users being taken up by addon integrations (e.g. sketch, slack, etc.). I'd like to free up those user spaces, but am wondering if we want jira to remain integrated with said addons if they must have a user space? These are automatically added when connecting with addons, I didn't realize they take up user slots until I exported my users.

Hi Kristin,

Thank you for reaching out to Atlassian Community!

Just complementing what Scott said, in order to work the add-ons must have application access, but you don't need to worry about that, add-ons will not count on your billing.

This is a screenshot of the Application access of my test instance where I'm using as an example Jira Ops that has one 1 licensed user which it's me, but if we check the list, we can see that many add-ons also have a license, but they are not counting.

So if your concern was about paying Jira license for add-ons, you don't need to worry. If you bought Jira for 10 users, for example, and installed 10 add-ons, they will not take up users' slots.

If you have any other question, please let us know.

Regards,
Angélica

Hi @Angélica Luz! How does this work in a server or data center environment where you buy blocks of users? (Asking for a friend.)

Hi Scott,

On Jira Server is different. When an add-on needs a license, it will count on the billing.

Hi @Kristin Cruz,

If an add-on application is adding a user when it is installed then you should assume that the user is needed by the application to perform the tasks programmed into it. Removing the user would most likely cause the application to fail.

Your best course of action would be to ask the support people for each of the add-on applications you use; they would be able to tell you what access the application user needs in order for it to work properly.
