Can a jira id in a version control commit message be linked to the jira issue?

We are using git for revision control. In IDEA I can view revision history of a file in the Version Control panel. Commit messages are listed and can contain a Jira ID. I would like to be able to click on the ID to bring the issue up in the Issues - JIRA tab. Is this possible? If so, how is it configured?

I have found that I can configure the issue id to link to the web page by adding a Jira Navigation Link in Settings : Version Control : Issue Navigation

But this opens the issue in a web page - not the Issues - JIRA tab
