Can't close a sprint - says there are open subtasks, but there aren't

Scott Cahill November 20, 2018

I am trying to close a sprint that has four issues in it, all are completed parents with all sub tasks completed.  When I go to close the sprint it says I can't because of open subs.  All parents and subs are in their last state as closed or done.

Normally I get a message asking me what to do with my issues that aren't completed, such as move them to the backlog or next sprint, but in this case it is a simple message, bulleted list of each parent JIRA, and no actions are available but to cancel.

I can't see anything wrong with the issues to address this, everything is completed as we normally do.  Any ideas?

Dialogue box states the following and gives me a cancel button:

Sprint cannot be completed as there are incomplete subtasks on the following issues:

  • ABC-2239
  • ABC-2205
  • ABC-2214
  • ABC-2219

Realized I was using an older board by mistake that had been made by someone else for this project.  But when I switched to the proper board and tried the sprint closed just fine without a problem.

All stories are in the last column as done, all subs are in their ending status of done.  There is nothing indicative of more work to be done.  4-10 subs per story, all are done, and I checked all stories and subs and they all have a resolution.

Hi @Scott Cahill,

Can you tell us what the status is on the tasks listed? In order for a sprint to be closed all issues need to be in the right hand "Done" column. If your status of those issues is anything other than your "Done" status the sprint won't close.
