Can't find Time Tracking

Richard Kentopp August 21, 2018

I can't find time tracking in my project. It is enabled globally, but when i press "." it doesn't show up in the list of hidden items. Can't find it anywhere. Searches through community don't seem to address this. How can I add the JIRA time tracking to my project?  Thanks in advance!

Answer from Atlassian support:

Thank you for reaching out and for your interest in Jira Software! I'm Chelsea, a product specialist and I'm happy to help.

With our new Jira experience rolling out, it sounds like your first project may be using the new Agility board, which doesn't offer epics or time tracking as of yet. Check out the guide in Atlassian Community for updates as new features are launched for the Agility boards.

In the meantime and as a solution to your immediate need, you can create a new project using the classic Scrum or Kanban template (look for the 'Change' link under the Project name field at creation), which includes epics and the ability to configure time tracking.

Hello,

You should add the Timetracking field to the screens of the required issue type for this project. You can find screens if you go to project settings -> screens.

My project settings does not offer that option.

It means that you created an independent project. Features of such projects are limited. You either does not have Jira administration permissions or you chose the Agility template, while creating your project. You need to create a usual project (Business, Software, Service Desk) and you will have this feature.

Thanks for your help Alexey,
1) All three users we have so far are Site Admins, including myself.

2) The project is a Software project as part of the company. Was not given an option for creating an independent project.

Time tracking should be located at Jira Administration > Issues > Time Tracking

Hey Raynard, thanks for your response.
I do have that turned on but am not seeing it anywhere on any of my tickets, nor can I select it as a hidden field.
