Created a new issue type "Tech Spike" that seems to use the same defaults as other issues, but i'm not seeing the "Story Points" field on this new issue type - even though everywhere i look it seems to be there (in screens/fields/setting pages).
Go to Jira Settings > Custom fields > Story Points > Configure > Edit Configuration >Choose applicable issue types and check if the new issue type is selected

Go to Custom Fields > Story Points > Check custom context for Story Points. May be custom context for Story Points does not include your newly created issue type.
