Can the custom field limit for cards be increased?

We want to have more than 3 custom fields, but it won't let us. This seems like an arbitrary restriction, is there any way for it to be increased?

I guess Atlassian is still gathering interest on this request so right now we dont have any other alternative.

Yeah, I guess this to avoid too much information in the card. I'm curious, Brandon, what is your use case? Thanks

There's a lot of whitespace on the cards which could be used to display more information.

I see...This seem to be a matter of personal preference. I think that too much information tends to overwhelm some audiences, but on the other hand I agree  that it would be  nice to have the flexibility to add more fields.
