Can we copy issues from one company managed project to another with all fields and subtasks?

Harish N January 6, 2025

Hi Team ,

I am trying to copy all issues from one company managed project to another project in jira cloud with all attachments and subtasks , bugs with respect to status , assignee, and all fields in the existing project.

Please help me regarding this in the best possible way.

Thanks ,

You could also use the Marketplace app Deep Clone for Jira.

Thanks @Mike Maurer The answer is useful, while doing Deep Clone for Jira i am unable to get the statuses and clockwork which is the original project. Could you please help me in better way to replicate the same while cloning.

Thanks ,

Harish N

Hi @Harish N ,
to get the same status you have to associate the same workflow scheme in the new project. You have to set it up before cloning.

Clockwork as a third party tool is not supported by Deep Clone for Jira. Try to export and import the data separately.

Hello @Harish N

If I understand correctly, you’re trying to clone an issue into another project with all its associated fields, right?

In that case, I can suggest trying our app Elements Copy & Sync. It allows you to clone issues with all their content (summary, description, custom fields, comments, attachments, etc).

Don't hesitate to check the documentation, it’s really quick and easy to set up.

The app is for free during 30 days (and it stays free under 10 users).

Dear @Harish N

Welcome to the community!

You can do that in 2 options: either using 3rd party plugin/app or using Jira's Built-in Features.

However, you can use the following steps to achieve your goal using Jira's Built-in Features:

  1. Bulk Export and Import:

    • Go to the source project and use the Issue Navigator to filter all the issues you want to copy.
    • Export the issues using the "Export CSV (All Fields)" option.
    • Modify the CSV file if necessary to match the target project's settings, such as issue types and custom fields.
    • Import the CSV into the target project using the External System Import option in the target project's administration settings.
  2. Bulk Move Issues:

    • If you only need to move issues (instead of copying), you can use the Bulk Change feature:
      1. Go to the Issue Navigator and select the issues to move.
      2. Use the "Bulk Change" option from the three-dot menu.
      3. Select Move Issues and follow the prompts.

Thanks @Anahit Sukiasyan . The answer which you provided is useful, I have done Deep Clone for project but while cloning project i want to make sure the statuses of the issues and Clock work time should appear in the cloned project . Is it possible to replicate the same which is in current project.

Could Anyone in the team suggest the best possible way.

Thanks

Harish
