Can you auto-populate a backlog in a Jira workflow?

I have a team that would like me to build a Jira workflow and have tickets automatically populate onto the backlog, is this possible?

Jessie, issues in backlog are displayed based on the configuration of your board. First, you need to make sure, there are no unmapped statuses in Columns configuration. Feel free to provide screenshots or details, so I can try to provide proper answer.
