Can you display field level history on a Jira issue UI?

I have users who update a series of status fields on a weekly basis, and would like to see the history of those updates displayed on the UI of the record. 

For example --- On another platform, my users have a Notes field. They use this field to add details on progress with the work item over its lifetime. Each time they enter data into the Notes field, that data is added to a running 'history' just under the field with a time stamp. It works like Comments in Jira, but focused specifically on the one field.

Is there any way to accommodate that in Jira outside of the Comments field?

I'd like to propose the solution - the add-on Issue History for Jira Cloud (link).

It shows the history of all changes that had been made with specific issues.

Plug-in allows:
- Get the changes log ordered by the date.
- Use filters to select issues list.
- Set columns to show different fields on the report grid.
- Apply custom date range to filter results.

At the Atlassian Marketplace you can get more information about the add-on and try the trial version of it.
