Can you link Jira Service Desk (Cloud) to a on premises Jira Datacenter instance

All,

We are attracted to the Jira Service Desk Cloud licensing methodology, but currently have our Jira environment on site with Atlassian's DataCenter offering. Is it possible to link a Jira Service Desk cloud instance with a Jira DataCenter on premises environment? 

I am guessing this would be possible with application links, but just wanted to verify the compatibility of a cloud instance with an on premises instance.

Yes, it's possible to link Jira Cloud and Server.
