Can you set up a standard Backlog Board for use across all projects?

Kay Corcoran June 13, 2018

Is it possible to set up a standard default Backlog Board that can be imported whenever a new project is created? Or do we have to set one up each time?

Hi Kay,

Quick technical addition here: boards are based on query strings (or projects directly). There is no way to include all Jira scope in JQL except an empty string which, I think< does not work for a board. That bein said, a simple query such as "type in(Story,Task......)" enumerating all types should be enough as long as you don't add new types!

As mentioned by @Jerry Laster _Divim_ Inc__, I'd rather go with a product backlog :)

Hope this helps!

Cheers

That's useful to know, thanks Micky.

Hi Kay,

The backlog should be connected to the project, as it is the "product backlog". Each project will have their own product backlog from which they will select work items for the sprint backlog, or the kanban.

You could create an "enteprise backlog" from which all other teams will pick times and move them from their own product backlog, but t would be a different project.

Thank you Jerry!
