Change Freeze periods in calendars

We were thinking of having our Change Management Jira project adhere to a freeze period in a calendar – such that the changes could not be implemented during a change freeze. Could I create a custom field of date type which then the Change Management project validate against it and, potentially, not allow or show a warning based on the calendar?

there would be a few ways to do this, but I think the best way to do it would be to create a scripted field with Script runner and then compare today's date with your created date or whatever other date you wanted to and then display an error based on that.

you might want to think about setting the other date as part of a workflow post function

I hope that makes some sense?
