Change default issue type to sub-task in Issue Type filed

Sangmesh March 11, 2021

Hello,

I have 4-5 sub-task issue types in my project and whenever I create a sub-task I want the "Sub-task" issue type to be set as default option in the "Issue Type" field in the create screen.

For example,

In the attachment,

When I click on Create Sub task option from any issue type created, this screen pop ups.

Here Issue Type (dropdown) is Sub-Change, I want to set it to Sub-task  by default.

Will that be possible to do so?

Thanks,

Sangmesh

Hi @Sangmesh ,

Unfortunately, I don't think we can define which sub-task should be set as default, but you can define the order of issue types in the Issue Type Scheme and you can keep "Sub-task" at the top, may be that would help resolve your problem.

Thanks,
Milan

Hello @Milan Chheda [INFOSYSTA] ,

I tried keeping the Sub-task at the top of Issue Type scheme. But, It doesn't make any difference.

Thanks,

Sangmesh

Ok, to my understanding, the order is basically governed by the Issue Type Scheme but it will retain the value which was used previously. So, let's say there are 5 issue types:

  1. Bug
  2. Feature
  3. Sub-TaskA
  4. Sub-TaskB
  5. Sub-TaskC

Now, I create a sub-task and I select 'Sub-TaskB'. I now move to another issue and click on create sub-task, it would default show based on my previous selection as 'Sub-TaskB'. So, I don't think, we can have a default sub-task selection.
