Not really.
The filter results gadget that you can have on a dashboard provides a tooltip menu for the issue operations and transitions. You can choose "Edit", but this will redirect you to the JIRA issue's edit screen.
On the other hand, in GreenHopper, you can change the status of a JIRA issue by selecting the tooltip menu, and choose "Update Priority". Doc.
I would like this functionality too, not the one described in the answer though.
My use case: Multiple dasbhboards, each filtering backlog items from the same project, but for each requesting business unit. Ideally each unit can prioritise their items through this dedicated dashboard. But...If they only could update the priority right in the dashboard...not have to open each item one by one to update the priority
