Clone an issue that has been completed in a sprint

We can't delete the completed sprint field contents from a story that was cloned from a story that was completed in an earlier sprint.  

Is it best to not clone stories from ones that have been completed?

Thanks for posting to the Atlassian Community!

What version of Jira Server are running? I believe this has been addressed by JSWSERVER-6541. This Suggestion should have added a checkbox to the clone issue dialog that asks if you want to Clone Sprint Value. If that is unchecked the Sprint information should not be cloned with the issue.

If that option is checked, then the sprint information will be cloned and is not able to be deleted on the cloned issue.

Is the 'Clone Sprint Value' checkbox available in your instance of Jira Server?

I may have also misunderstood this request, please feel free to correct me if I am misunderstanding what you are asking about here.
