Hello @Ramesh Krishnan

If you're open to use Marketplace Apps, I would recommend checking out Smart Templates for Jira. This tool will allow you to:

  1. Save entire issue hierarchies as templates

  2. Clone complex structures with a single click

  3. Pre-fill issue fields, including custom fields

  4. Schedule and automate issue creation from a template

With Smart Templates, you can easily replicate recurring processes, save time on recreating tasks, and maintain standardized workflows across your Jira projects.

It's available for both Jira Cloud and Jira Data Center, learn more about Smart Templates here

Hi @Ramesh Krishnan

If you're looking to clone an Epic along with its Stories and Sub-tasks in Jira Cloud — all while preserving the full issue hierarchy — our app Deep Clone for Jira is an excellent solution.

With its Epic/Tree Clone feature, you can:

  • Clone entire epics including their child stories, tasks, and subtasks
  • Keep the same parent-child structure in the cloned set
  • Clone to the same or a different project
  • Automatically clone comments, attachments, issue status, and more

All of this can be done in just a few clicks — no need to manually recreate the issue structure.

Hi @Ramesh Krishnan

I think you could try creating an Automation rule, here's a link to Automation template library

If you're open to Marketplace add-ons, Issue Templates Cloud  -developed by the company I work for- can be used to create templates for Jira issues, including epics, stories, and subtasks, and then clone them while maintaining the same hierarchy. The template can store predefined values such as summaries, descriptions, assignees, and custom fields.

Here's a link to the app's Support Center , where you can find an interactive tutorial and documentation if you're interested in learning a bit more.

Kind Regards,

Bogna

Hello @Ramesh Krishnan

If you’re trying to clone an epic with its child issues (story and subtask), I can suggest trying our app Elements Copy & Sync. It allows you to clone (and sync if needed) issues with all their content (summary, description, custom fields, comments, attachments, etc). You can do it manually from an issue, or automatically depending on what works best for you.

Don’t hesitate to check our documentation.

The app is for free during 30 days (and it stays free under 10 users).
