@Mar Angelo L_ Tareno I am assuming that you mean by cloning it you would like to have it copy all of the work items (issues) you created in the project?  If that is the case you would need to:

  • Cloning projects with built-in CSV export (Jira Cloud only) - Create a new Project with the shared settings and choose the project from which you want to clone. It will allow you to copy all the configurations. Then,  you can export all the issues from the original project and import it to the new one. Learn more details here.
  • Use a Project Cloning Add-On - The Atlassian Marketplace offers several add-ons that enable project cloning.

If you just want to use the project settings you can create a new company managed project following these steps:

  1. Access Project Creation: Navigate to the "Projects" section in Jira and click on "Create project".
  2. Choose Project Type: Select "Company-managed" as the project type.
  3. Choose Template: You can either choose a template or select "Share settings with an existing project".
  4. Share Settings: If you choose the "Share settings" option, select the existing project you want to base the new project on.
  5. Create Project: Give your new project a name and choose its access level.

If you want to use the settings and issues then you can create the project first based on the settings of the other project and then do a CSV import of the work items (issues)

Hi @Mar Angelo L_ Tareno

If you're a Jira admin, you can share settings with an existing project. During the creation of a company-managed project, there should be an option to "share settings with an existing project" available (again, if you’re a Jira admin 😊 ).

The new project will share the same configurations as the template project, including issue types, workflows, screens, fields, permission schemes, but it won't copy existing issues, boards, project-specific filters, or automation rules.

I’m also including a link to a Marketplace add-on, Issue Templates for Jira (developed by the company I work for). This app lets you create templates that you can reuse across multiple projects.

For example, if your "template project" includes standard tasks, sub-tasks, epics, etc., you can save them as templates and recreate the entire issue structure in a new project.
