Closing an Epic via Scrum board

Ellen Sulerzyski August 3, 2020

Some Team members used the Epic filter on the Backlog screen to mark the Epic as "Done".  However, in our current workflow we do not have a "Done" status.  We use "Close" .  So, just looking at the Epic in Jira it doesn't show the Epic is "Closed".

How can I get the "Mark the Epic as Done" changed to "Mark the Epic as Closed"?  Can this be changed or do I have to change my workflow to include "Done"?  Thanks

Epic status and Workflow status (the workflow used by the epic on that particular project) are independent.

You have to change/update them both.  Changing the workflow status, in your case 'Close' or Done does not automatically change the Epic status.  Epic status is a custom field, to be updated through the board as you described.  The board uses Done status to remove epics from the list.  So don't try to change it from the default values.
