hello,
i started a migration of confluence from my actual server to another one ,so i made a backup of my $Home_Directory, and i copied it on the new server ,then i verified the home_directory on my new server that is the same one that i used before, all seems ok, but when i started confluence on my new server and tried to connect it to my Mssql DB,which contains all Data of my old instance, i get this Error : Confluence tables already exist in the selected database .
sounds weird for me because i do not want to override the DB i want to use this DB to display my old content.
is there any advises or solutions !
Thanks
thanks @Amith Mathur {Appfire} , but i already tried all what you mentionned here and i started confluence with a new DB from my old backup db. and i get the same error.
i verified that onfluence-init.properties is pointing the the right home_dir. but for the confluence.cfg.xml im not sure what you mean by Hostname ? because on that file i added the new informations about my new DB ,but i dunt see any place where i can specify the Hostname of my new confluence instance...there is just informations about the SQL instance that i should add.but i do not see any place where i should specify my Hostname of my confluence server .
please can you clarify me this point ...thanks at advance
Hi @testdockerhub,
If the confluence.cfg.xml has been updated with the IP Address/hostname in the jdbc connection string then that is ok. However, the confluence is not able to identify whether it is a new set up or an existing one.
I hope you have the created a new database schema in the new database server, restored the database backup from the the old server, have the same Confluence version binaries and modified the files before starting the Confluence in the new server.
Can you share the complete error message here?
Thanks,
Amith Mathur

If you are doing a migration to the new server, including the database, then you have to take the database dump from old server and restore it in the new database server (create a new schema).
Please verify that <Confluence_installation_dir>/confluence/WEB-INF/classes/confluence-init.properties is pointing to the proper home directory.
Verify the confluence.cfg.xml is updated with the database details including the hostname.
You can refer this page for Migrating Confluence Between Servers.
Thanks,
Amith Mathur
