Connecting GitHub and Jira

Hello,

I am a student working on a team project for university, where we are using Jira for the project management and I'm trying to link it to a GitHub for the code aspect of the project. 

The Jira project is team-managed, where I have been unable to link the two platforms together. When I try to perform any administrative actions on the Jira side, I am informed that I need to contact my Administrator. I have no idea who the administrator is, and the "Administrator" hasn't set up the contact form, so I am unable to escalate this internally, if it has something to do with my student email domain. 


Every time I try to download the GitHub application within Jira, it says that the app is installed, however, I am unable to configure it as per the documentation. If I re-open the App page, it prompts me to re-install the app, like it never had in the first place.

If I navigate to the toolchain settings for the project, I am able to add GitHub to the code section, however, when I attempt to link the GitHub repository it asks me to contact the administrator again. 

If I try to create a company managed project (a solution I've seen in other posts),  I am unable and I'm prompted to message the administrator again.

Hi @knedliky and welcome to the community,

If you are using a free instance of jira, then you are an admin as well. To doublecheck that, click on the cog wheel on the upper right corner of your screen. On the drop down menu that will appear, if you see the options (system, products, issues etc) then you are a jira admin.

Now, I've tried to install the specific application.

• Once the installation finished, I clicked on Get started
• There it prompted me to connect to a github account.
• I clicked the above and redirected to login to my github account
• I successfully logged in, and then github prompted me to install again Github for Jira.
• I clicked again the blue button and that was it.

What do you do after that? Do you have a similar result as mine below?

@knedliky did you resolve your issue? Did you follow the steps Alex mentioned? If you're open to using a 3rd party tool for this integration, at some point, you can look at the Atlassian marketplace.
