How to copy field value from one field to another? Just a one time update.

By one time update, I guess you may not want to use options that involve perhaps a transition postfunction, that copies the values when a transition is executed?

There are a few other options that don't involve a transition post function at all:

• Try the copy custom field values script from the script runner plugin (assuming you're trying to copy custom fields).
• Also you can export the values from one field to excel, and re-import via CSV import to update the new field, I guess. Refer to https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Exporting+Search+Results+to+Microsoft+Excel and https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Importing+Data+from+CSV
• Another option is Copy Field Value, from JIRA Command Line Interface (This works for Issue Fields)

If you're copying this field on multiple issues, however it will make sense to perform a bulk change for the transition of the issues, to copy the fields simultaneously.
