Copying Issues from existing project to a new project

Karl Lewis June 6, 2025

I need to copy my issues, ( Initiatives, Epics, Stories and tasks ) from an existing project to a new project. Reason being we have a new playbook scheme and need to transfer issues over to the new project. I tried doing this before by exporting to CSV and then uploading to the new project but it created duplicate issues in the existing project.

Can someone please help how i copy issues from one project to another without creating duplicates?

Hi @Karl Lewis

To copy your issues from an existing project to your new project I can suggest trying our app Elements Copy & Sync. You'll be able to clone them super easily and even to keep them in sync if needed.

The app is for free during 30 days (and it stays free under 10 users).

Hi @Karl Lewis

If you are willing to try a marketplace app, you can give our app Deep Clone for Jira a shot. Deep Clone can clone all issues of a project to another project.

Hi @Karl Lewis

I recommend using a cloning app like Clone Expert from the Marketplace. It makes copying issues between projects easy and helps avoid duplicates.

Hi @Karl Lewis

So you do not want to copy them, you want to move them ?

You can do a bulk move of your issues from project A to B.

Move multiple issues | Jira Cloud | Atlassian Support
