Hello,

We had a question regarding the costs related to maintaining the current data hosted JIRA instance.

Considering the potential 6-month duration for migrating JIRA from data hosted to cloud in our organization, what costs would be incurred if we continue to use the current data hosted JIRA instance after the support ends on Feb 15, 2024?

Our JIRA license expires on the same date as well, so would we pay the existing pro-rated license amount for the data hosted instance or would there be different terms?

Thanks,

Komal M

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

The cost will be whatever you are paying for the hosting service.  Jira Server support ends on Feb 15, as you say, and at that point, you will stop paying for it.

Your server install will continue to work as it does now, with the only change being that your admins will frequently see reminders that you are unsupported and can not upgrade if any issues are found in the current version.

To become supported again, you need to migrate to Server or Data Center.  Pricing fo both can be found on the two tabs at https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/pricing

Hi @Komal M

Like Nic said, there will be no more costs related to Server. However, it's highly recommended to migrate asap as recent Security issues have shown.

You could migrate to Data Center while preparing the move into Cloud. Migration to DC is basically just swapping out the license key, as long as your installation is fairly standard. That way you still get support and security updates.
