I've created a search filter and saved to my own, not shared to others.  I can execute the filter but cannot view and edit the JQL. I've upgraded Jira Software to version 8.7.1 and use administrator right to create a saved filter, but the symptom persist.  Could you point me out what I was doing wrong?

i set the edit permissions to Group=Employees and I can save it now.  Of course so can 800 other people, but I'll have to live on the edge :)

Hello @Roberto Leone

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Per your description, I understand you created a new filter that you can not edit anymore, although you are able to access and run that filter.

Can you please provide us a screenshot displaying the exact view you have when you run the filter?

By default, the option to view and edit the JQL behind any filter you create is in the right side of the filter bar, as you can see in the screenshot below:

If you are not able to see that option and properly edit the filter, it is possible that someone has changed the ownership of the filter. In that case, you can set yourself as the owner of the filter by following the steps below:

  1. Click in the Jira icon (, or ) > Jira settings > System.
  2. Click Shared Filters.
  3. Search for a filter or scroll through the full list.
  4. Next to the shared filter, click  > Change owner.
  5. Search for the relevant user and click Change Owner.

Let us know if you have any questions.
